Kanuni Sultan Suleyman Bridge

World-known famous Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan started the construction of the bridge with the command of Solomon Sultan Mehmet during the statutory Szigetvar expedition. The bridge was completed 1566-1567 during II. Selim and reserve currency 73,853 has been spent. Hundreds of sculptor and carpenter worked in the construction of the bridge and the waters of the lake are drawn with giant water pumps. The foundation of the bridge combined with lead-casting piles which driven up to 2-3 human length. This basic method was later applied to the New Mosque by the architect Davut Aga. Mimar Sinan Bridge is 635 mt. long, 7.17 meters wide and composed of the combination of 4 different bellows.

Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Mosque

Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Mosque (1567) is located in Buyukcekmece Dizdariye District on Enver Pasha Street. Due to its location it is known as Mosque of Bridgehead. The mosque is one of Mimar Sinan`s masterpiece. Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Mosque composes a miniature range complex with the bridge and Buyukcekmece Caravanserai. The most important feature is its minaret which there is only two exsamples in the world. The minaret is sculptured from a single piece of stone. The other example for such a minaret is in Egypt.

Fountain of Sultan Suleyman

Fountain is the oldest standing structure in Buyukcekmece next to Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Mosque. The Fountain was built together with historical Sultan Suleyman Bridge and Caravanserai. The fountain was constructed in classical style and hewn stone bases in 3 wings. Each wing has a fountain and drinking trough in front.

Kervansaray (Kurşunlu Han)

Caravanserai was a large range (host) place on the extending roads from Thrace to the Buyukcekmece in 16th century during the Ottoman Empire. Mosque complex, Namazgah, three-arched fountain with four sections in the form of a bridge structure is located in the Caravanserai. Restorations made from time to time rendered it possible to reach these works to the present day. The construction of the Caravanserai is not the first structure built by Mimar Sinan commanded by Suleyman the Magnificent. The inscription gives the date of 974/1566. It is understood that an important range complex of buildings adjacent to a mosque had built by Mimar Sinan during the statutory Szigetvar expedition of Solomon Sultan Mehmet.
